Ascent Trip Report

After summitting Mount Starr King, I headed over to Mt. Waumbek.

The Starr King Trail descended at an easy grade, traversed the nice, woodsy sag between Starr King and Waumbek, and made a moderate climb to the latter peak's summit, which was wooded and viewless but did have a cairn and an interesting gnarled tree. I chatted with a couple from Missouri for a while and then headed back over to Starr King and eventually to the trailhead. It started raining heavily about 1/2 way down the Starr King Trail, which made for a wet, muddy hike, and I was soaked when I got back to the trailhead. Good thing I brought my jacket!
