Ascent Trip Report

Started the hike around 9:20am. Perfect summer day with mid-70s temperatures. We were planning for the standard loop over North, Middle, and South Tripyramid peaks via the Livermore trail. We were very happy to see that the Livermore trail was as easy as described knowing that by the time we got back to it following the south slide descent we would be ready for an easy 2+ mile hike out. In a little over an hour we made it to the Mt Tripyramid trail north side start. We walked through a pretty heavily wooded trail for a bit until we came upon the north slide. The base of the slide was pretty dry so with the exception of few sporadic spots. We started making our way up with a few challenging slabs of granite that didn't have great footings. I started to quickly see why people recommended not coming down this route. My 10 year old took off on us up the slide while I was going much more cautiously up the left/mid side. At one point i ended up on a very gravely and wooded portion off the left side. Ultimately I came back out to the main portion, looked up and realized I had a ways to go! While the trail was steep it became more loose gravel for the upper portion. After some time I joined my son at the top while we waited for our hiking partners. Definitely one of the more challenging portions of trail we have encountered. Probably took us a bit over an hour to complete that portion. After we had all relaxed a bit we made our way back on the trail (to the left side) at to the wooded summit
