Ascent Trip ReportAfter being rejected by this mountain on two previous occasions, Friday the 13th proved to be a lucky day after all. Monica and I had missed it on Thanksgiving Day 2007 (Monica fell in the river) and then again about a month ago (snow of the ground and raging river crossings). I even changed things up and wore a red shirt (like Tiger does) because there was going to be no denying me this summit on this day. The snow was gone and the river crossings were easy. What took us hours before took us minutes. We SHATTERED the AMC book time for this climb, which is 10 hours and 32 minutes for the 14.5 miles. We did it in only 5 hours and 54 minutes. In fact, we even took a little detour and hiked a total of 15.3 miles in that time.
