Ascent Trip ReportWe started hiking about 9:15 AM from Sawyers River road on a muddy soggy path.
It rained the day and night before due to tropical storm Andrea, but it had stopped by the time we got to the trailhead. The river crossings were surprisingly low seeing as how it was spring and there had been rain just before.
Most of the way up the mountain we passed what looked like a campsite. The surrounding area was covered in a carpet of moss and was beautiful.
Other than that, the climb was pretty typical until we started getting into the alpine zone.
We reached what should have been some awesome viewpoints looking north into Desolation Notch, but the low clouds obscured our views
After resting a few minutes and taking some pictures, we continued along the ridge towards the summit that was obscured by the low clouds
Before long, we reached the summit, and the summit tower. There was a group of 3 girls there, one of whom was finishing her 4kers list. We climbed the tower, rested, and stretched for a little while.
We headed back down the Signal Ridge Trail, and when we got to the viewpoint, the clouds opened just a little bit, letting us see all the way down the valley and getting peeks down to 302.
Near the bottom of the mountain, we saw an open marsh through the trees and decided to check it out.
