Ascent Trip Report

On our way to completing the 48, this was our next stop. This mountain is quite an easy hike. There was a hike in of about a mile or so from the parking lot on an old fire or logging road. After that, we turned into the trees and started the gently sloping ascent up to the summit. Just before the peak, we stopped for lunch in the Mt Cabot Cabin. It was grungy, but a welcome relief from the cold. From the cabin, the summit was a quick 10 minutes more. Past the summit sign is about 50 yards of forest with no undergrowth, and on the other side of this is the actual high point of the mountain. After making sure to stand on the true summit, we easily made the descent back to the car.
