Ascent Trip Report

DAY #7

I was lunching at Sassafras gap, when to my surprise, I see Brad approaching ! ! ! he had left before me this morning and I didn't pass him .... he would tell me that he left this morning going sb and found his error after a few miles. Chris, Pam, & Wren left after me.
After Addis gap I hid my pack and did a 40 minute round trip bushwack (from south side) to Double Spring Knob (dense to some open stretches, some thorns, overall not bad). A very short distance later Chris caught up with me at Deep gap and we stayed together for the rest of the day, the girls were somewhere behind.
I had some soreness on my ankles, right knee, calfs & quads.

13h30 - Dicks Creek gap, Brad is leaving the T here. He got picked up by his brother-in-law, who also gave us a ride to Hiawassee GA, Holiday Inn Express Hotel. Chris and I shared a 69$ room. The hotel let us use their huge washing/drying machines (the guest machines were out of order). Chris is always on his cell phone, today he called his girlfriend in Guatamala.

Pam & Wren checked into the room across the hall from us ! ! ! I guessed that Chris had prearranged this scenario. Chris and I watched the Sopranos - the next episode is on june 3 and I should be in Gatlinburg, perfect.
I called my son, Michael, we will meet at Fontana dam on may 29 or 30. Hiawassee is a nice, clean, booming town, mostly tourism.
