Ascent Trip Report

The road system around this summit has been "restored" by the FS so be prepared to walk. Road 2354 is gated near the Skokomish bridge between November and April. Spur 200 was signed as "closed". Road 2354 and Spur 300 are both permanently blocked where they intersect. I tried several roads farther east but nothing still goes through so it was back to the Rd 2354 closure point.

The FS has done a pretty thorough job of tearing up 2354. All culverts removed, runoff diverter ditches every 100 to 500 feet, most of the road surface regraded, and all creek crossing embankments removed. Constantly going into and out of the diverter ditches was annoying and the slopes the FS left around the creeks made crossings sketchy. The vegetation is filling up the roadbed in a few areas but most of the route is still open. I expect this one will get steadily worse in the coming years. The elk herd has been helpful in places creating a bit of a trail to walk on.

When you finally get close to the summit area, use the south ridge to bushwhack to the top. Don't be fooled by the false summit bump at the south end of the 3760 contour. Rainy and cloudy while I was there but it didn't look like much chance of views through the trees.
