Ascent Trip ReportDAY #29 Took a shuttle from Hot Springs to Allen gap. Moderate Trail all day except for a 2 mile section at Big Firescald knob, a really bad rocky section..... MUDS over huge boulders .... tough & slow, memories of NH .... should have taken the bad weather route. Went left on .2 mile side trail to visit the Camp Creek Bald`s firetower, plus a short few hundred feet to Big Butt summit. One hour lunch/nap break at Jerry Cabin shelter, the rocky section took its toll, tough day. My right knee hurts a lot, stiffened up during the night, left achilles tendon not bad. I was told that there was no water here...... it wasn't the case, good water source.
