Ascent Trip ReportParking at the picnic tables marked Pré Petit Jean on the 1:25K map, I took the left hand (northernmost) path of the two leading into the forest from that point. This deteriorated into a mud-fest caused by recent logging activity but I persevered as it traversed rightwards and upwards across the slope until I came to a track that looked like it led directly up to the summit. This proved a good choice, and after crossing a better forest road I came to the summit area. This time I could locate the trig point but it was unusually not on the highest point of the hill. There were other markers (one a cross) in the forest, but the highest ground seemed unmarked and was probably about 2m higher than the trig (trig is given 1086m on the map, I estimate the highest ground at 1088m). Descent by the same route.
