Ascent of South Tripyramid on 2008-06-01| Date: | Sunday, June 1, 2008 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | South Tripyramid | | Location: | USA-New Hampshire | | Elevation: | 4080 ft / 1243 m |
Ascent Trip ReportLong hike in via Livermore passed quickly. Black flies not bad. North slide slippery at the bottom with little to hold onto to keep from sliding backwards. Forced to do splits a few times in order to climb further. I would never climb the north slide on a day with precipitation, nor would I descend via the North Slide. The slide widens as elevation increases, does get easier as far as more to grab onto, although loose rock begins to make climbing difficult. This is not a "trail" for people that are scared of heights. For those that aren't... it gets the adrenaline going. View a thte top of slide is by far better than near the summit. Loop over the 3 summits pretty easy, with short sections that are steep. South Slide pretty easy to come down with great views of Sanwich and Winni.
Definitely do the loop clockwise!
