Ascent Trip ReportThe ascent to South Twin was a little tiring just before the peak. I was moving a little slow. When we got to the top we hung out for a little while and had some food and drink. The views were great on this clear and sunny day.We left our packs here and hiked to North Twin. I was relieved that I wouldn't have to carry just a heavy load. After we hiked to North Twin and back, we stayed here for a while and took a nap. Andrew's boots were wet and he wanted to dry them out a bit. Later, Andrew broke out his Mr. Goodbar and shared with the group. The summit was busy today with lots of people spread out taking a break from their day's hike.
We headed out to the Galehead hut. I decided I would not be climbing Galehead today. Everyone else went up and I just hung out. I borrowed Evan's phone and called Michael. This is for you Michael--this trip was fun, but not the same without you. I would have liked to do this one with you. I imagined the hike as if you were here and recognized from your pictures the place you had been. It was as if I was retracing your steps and wondering what you had been thinking about when you passed by. This--hiking--is truly an activity that let's me just think about something, everything and absolutely nothing surrounded by a beautiful and peaceful scenery. What can be more relaxing than being lost in thought and simultaneously challenging that every part of your body is moving and working?
