Ascent Trip ReportDay #93 -- enter New Jersey
Cross the Delaware river into New Jersey, heavily overcast with poor visibility, some nice ridge walking with possible views but not today, hot and humid once again. Black flies all day, you have to keep moving.
Usual semi rocky Trail, at places overgrown with grass as was the case yesterday !!! afraid of rattlers !!! Very busy, talked to 9 sb'ers - kept it short cause of the black flies. This past week I started meeting sb'ers.
16:00 hrs arrived Blue Mountain Lake road, I left the AT and detoured to Camp Ken-etiwa-Pec thinking I'd get a nice place to stay, not the case, ended up in an old poor hut by the lake, lots of mosquitoes, luckily it had a screened poor. They are building a new hut across the lake, just off the AT.
Corey, the attentant in charge of the camp, invited me to dinner at the camp's dining room, with a Ti-Kuando group in for the week. Good looking Ukraine girls, on a government exchange program, worked the kitchen. I really pigged-out
Back in the hut I had an accident !!! had the "runs" !!! couldn't leave for the outdoors fast enough, had to go on the floor. No fun cleaning it up !!! The aroma stayed with me as I dozed off.
