Ascent Trip ReportA rather miserable hike today. There was a cold rain. Few people on the trail. Got pretty cold while putting on crampons at 3000 ft. to the point of almost deciding to turn back. However, moving along with full raingear and fleece I began to warm up. Because of the freeze/thaw cycles the trail was very icy in some places. Made it to the top again, this time it was windy with very poor visability. There was some freezing rain. I was difficult to keep warm so I comsumed a few gels, and started back down.
As far as I know there was only one other person that summited today, both of us are training for Rainier.
