Ascent Trip ReportFirst hike in 6 months, and legs felt it. Took Little River Rd herd path, North Twin Trail (herd path to stay on left side of river), North Twin Trail, North Twin Spur to South Twin Mountain. Met group willing to drive us back to car if we decided to advance to Galehead and down Gale River, so we decided to do so. Extremely steep descent to Galehead hut. Went up Galehead, ate at the hut (not open), then headed down Gale River Tr. Seemed like more than 4.6 mile to the trail head due to long extremely flat run-out. On Gale River loop road person on skis that was part of the group we met passed us. Rode his bike to get car at trail head, and picked us up after walking about a half mile down the road. Thankfully we didn't try to walk the whole road as it is about 5 miles. Extremely tiring day, a lot for first hike in such a long time.
River crossings fine, but getting thin. Lots of low branches in higher elevations. Many sections would have been hard to find trail if it wasn't already broken (North Twin Spur and Galehead).
