Ascent Trip Report

this was my first spring hike, still a lot of snow on the ground but it was incredible. I heard a lot about this mt before so i decided when i had the chance I'd hike it. The people that i usually hang out with is gone this weekend. I drove from PSU to Mt. Major, it was still a bit snowy but i didnt want to put on the snowshoes, this is the hardest thing about this time period. There isn't enough snow to wear snow shoes yet its enough to slow you down just on foot. The view for this mountain was amazon, I took the Mt. Major trail into the mountain this is the most direct route. Its 1.5 miles to the top, there is a break where you can do a loop trail with water but i wasn't in the time frame for that. So i continued on this path and headed up the mountain and it did get a bit harder from there, it lead to another break with a ledge, i did take the ledge i always take the more interesting trail, it was hard but it was well worth it. The top was just over the ledge you know you are at the top when you see the brick fortress at the top, and there is a plaque next to the snowman, with the view you can see Mt. Washington, lake winapasakee and much more, its completely exposed and its well worth the trip, people come from all around the world to get this view, if you have the chance to hike it.... do it!
