Ascent Trip ReportA drive up.
We used the directions in Bob Martin's TR of 2001 which are still good and a very good read. This TR only adds a few observations.
Unfortunately there was no one home at the 688, Jim Finley, Mallard Hill residence, even though everything was open (gate, barns) and a number of vehicles in the grounds. This is an outstanding location for a home, highlighted by the 2 ponds ..... we can see why the name Mallard Hill, we had to wait for the dozen-or-so mallards to get off the driveway on our drive-in. We took photos.
Bob and PB puts the HP before (east-of) the Finley entrance. This area has now a trailer home #638. I picked HP spot at 32.45753,-92.41470. We went to the door and the young man with 2 small dogs told us that the HP is on Finley's property.
I walked the Finley property, looking for humans in the barn area, but only saw horses. I didn't have my eye-level with me however this areas appears higher, but is it natural?? With all of the construction, shaping/landscaping of the ponds, etc. its questionable. The present high ground is at the barn, 32.45677,-92.41685.

JUST ABOUT A MILE FROM TEXARKANA
IN THEM OLD COTTON FIELDS A BACK HOME." ....... lyrics from "Cotton Fields"
