Ascent Trip Report

From the saddle with the southeast summit, I again ran back up to the main summit. My whole side trip had taken less than 20 minutes, and Collin was just waking up from his nap. Everyone got ready and we headed down.

The descent path was much the same as the way we went up. Once off the ridgeline and back on the steep stuff the footing was every bit as bad as the ascent was. Lots of loose dirt on hardpan/rock. We recovered the climbing gear we had cached (and never used), and downclimbed the rocky wall back to the road. We also hit a block talus fall at the end that we somehow missed on the way up. A short while later we were back at the trailhead.

We broke camp and began the long drive to our Mount Jefferson trailhead.
