Ascent Trip ReportI followed a steep use trial up the east ridge of Mt. Lee, hoping to walk along the edge of the fence around the radio towers and regain the ridge to continue to Cahuenga Peak. After reaching the fence, I followed another use trail along the south side of the summit. I was soon approached by 2 LAPD officers and told I was trespassing. I was unknowingly walking to the hollywood sign and I guess that area is off limits. I tried several times to get them to let me continue on so I wouldn't have to back track but they wouldn't budge. When I asked a third time, he told me if I don't go back to the road, I could "finish my hike at the hollywood division jail." I turned back and found another use trail along the north side of the perimeter fence that let me get where I wanted with having to back track too much.
