Ascent Trip Report

Arrived at Mill Brook Rd. PA around 8:30 AM and no one there. A cool 32 degrees F but the sun was up and there were only a few clouds. Got ready and started out. Passed some blow-downs and signed the register and noticed that last (registered) hiker on Graham was 5 days ago. First part was a little steep but the trail was broken well. Made the left and quick right turn and the trail leveled off considerably. Got to the junction and took a look at the trail to Graham - still looked broken - hooray. The trail to Graham started out level or slightly downhill and was just on the North side of the ridge so I was hiking in the shade and had to zip up a bit in this section to stay warm. Eventually this trail became a good 4 inches or so deep in places most likely due to drifting. Some of the steeper sections approaching the summit were even deeper. Pretty desolate feeling being up there near the remnants of some structure but the views were worth it. The wind had picked up on the summit so I didn't stay long. Got back to the junction and decided to put off BLM til another day. Didn’t see anybody on this North side of Balsam Lake Mtn while I was there and no new prints from what I could tell.
