Ascent Trip Report

Followed Coby King's excellent report after consulting with local NC hiking guru Peter Barr. The bushwhack up Guyot is easy after the first hundred yards or so. For those UTM-challenged, you should start your bushwhack at 35.70700, -83.26045. You'll avoid many of the difficulties that cause others so much grief. You'll know you're at the summit when you see a small cairn and large green benchmark.

This is a pretty long, but wonderfully remote hike. I saw two other parties at the trailhead but otherwise didn't see a soul all day. Took me 8 hours and 20 minutes to do this and Old Black, longer than usual due to a lot of ice on the trail above 3800'.
