Ascent Trip ReportMy fist 2013 entry was a drive up from hwy #154.
We are southbound for TX and our son and his family in The Woodlands ..... our yearly pilgrimage away from the "Snows of Montreal", we left on December 31, 2012. What is a driving trip without some High Pointing ..... so we stopped in the Little Rock, AR. area for a bit of hiking, this "U S State Park HP" being the prize.
We didn't leave the snow completely ...... the remains of a Xmas Day snow storm that hit central USA was still around. This area received about 10 inches of snow and Electric Power Repair Crews were all over the place, there was a lot of tree damages from the heavy snow.
From Hwy 154 on top of the bluff we drove east on the paved Stouts Point Road .5 miles to the summit parking area, and the outstanding panorama from Stouts Point just above the Arkansas River. A board walk is atop the large rocks at the edge of the Bluff. A great place for a family picnic with access to a bit of history.
