Ascent of Mount Flume on 2012-03-24| Date: | Saturday, March 24, 2012 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | Mount Flume | | Location: | USA-New Hampshire | | Elevation: | 4328 ft / 1319 m |
Ascent Trip ReportAbout half of the Flume Slide was covered in ice, so I had to resort to bushwacking quite a few times. Nonetheless, it was great fun. I've seen people qualify this as a Class 3 hike: I don't think the exposure quite warrants that, since the slide is solidly flanked by trees. The ridge walk to the adjacent Liberty was quite easy and rewarding, given the unique pride rock-like shape of the Liberty summit and the 360 degree view on top. A great trip.
