Ascent Trip ReportEdward and I boated out from Manchester and tied up at the island marina. The island deer population (very tame) was out to greet us. We went first to the south contour and wandered around until we were sure that one of the points we touched must have been the HP for that area. The argument over what's dirt and what's rotting wood is very necessary on Blake.
We then headed over to the north contour and here the brush was thicker and the possible HPs were more scattered. We tagged every thing that we suspected and then headed NW to catch the trail back to the marina. A hill appeared out of the brush with more relief than we had been seeing. The map claimed we were NW of the limits of the highest contour but this high ground is pronounced and my GPS called it 240 ft high. The coordinates are as follows:
N 47.54029 deg W 122.49876 deg
Edward and I were pretty confident that this northern point is the highest point and is not shown correctly on the contour map. With the brush and limited sight distances, it is hard to say for sure what is higher but this northern point should be visited.
