Ascent Trip Report

I traversed the Twins out-and-back, starting from the north. There were a few inches of fresh snow cover from the previous day's storm passage. I followed one pair of foot tracks on my way up North Twin, and I finally met the two hikers just below the summit, as they were headed back down.

Once I reached the North Twin outlook, I had a clear view west toward the Franconia Range, with a sea of undercast cloud cover obscuring view of the lower terrain. There was bright sunshine with a deep blue sky, and the trees were blanketed with fresh snow. It was a stunning winter-like scene, but I couldn't enjoy it for long because of the intense cold wind.

I made the first tracks through the few inches of snow cover on my way to South Twin. Once I reached the treeless summit area, I stopped to enjoy the view until the powerful winds drove me away.
