Ascent Trip ReportI parked at the 655 intersection on the Hoko River Rd(Pvt). The gate was open but access is only allowed on foot or bicycle. Turned out the logging crew had their skyline stretched across the road and they wouldn't have let me drive past anyway.
Easy bicycling to the junction at 800 ft, then steep to the saddle and intersection at 1130 ft. From here on the road up the SW ridge of Ellis is not maintained but it is still in good walking condition. I pushed my bike about halfway up but parked it when I started running into downed trees. Continued on foot to the summit antenna. I'm not sure of where the highest point is but I waded through the brush to a point about 100 yds S of the antenna and then visited a high spot west of the approach road. The brush is very thick once you leave the roads.
Lots of logging activity in the area so watch for trucks if you go on a weekday.
