Ascent Trip Report

I came in on BIA20 from the Joe Moses Rd. The road was fine except for frozen snow and poor grade on the last 100 feet of elevation to the intersection with BIA63. I parked and walked. Visibility was limited in fog. A mile or so from the truck, a bull moose suddenly crashed out of the brush a 100 feet from me. He turned and stared me down. Fortunately, he moved off up the hill.
The summit boulder scramble looks easy enough in the summer, but I found it decorated with snow and ice. I tried the side away from the tower and couldn't get a secure enough hold to pull my self up the crux. I went to the tower side and was able to climb up after clearing each hold of snow. At least the exposure was minor.
