Ascent Trip ReportThe road to Rice Peak gets challenging after the Peppersauce campground (passenger cars can make it as far as the campground). Once on the ridge, it gets better, and we could have driven to the summmit of Rice Peak if we didn't want some exercise.
As for the county highpoint, one can bushwhack across from the second switchback on the road, but it is a VERY tough bushwhack where one has to push through dense thorny bushes in numerous places. By comparison there is what appears to be the remains of an old road going from just above the CoHP to the summit of Rice Peak, so I would recommend going to and from the summit. Even though it adds some extra elevation gain, it's still the easier route.
