Ascent Trip Report

Started at approximately 11am with Cole and Ashley. Somehow I talked Ash into getting out with me the night before. We set off on a great day with cool temps. Cole and Ash did very well until we got just beyond 'Blister Hill'. The altitude really hit Ash...not to mention that we were hiking up a very strenuous trail and she had not been out in over a year. Cole did great but as usual had to be prodded a little to keep moving. Ash and I both commented that we knew he was doing fine because he was a jabber jaw. If you're huffing and puffing it's typically hard to talk. Not Cole...he is full of great stories and comments. We had to slow it down quite a bit at around 7800' for Ash, but she was strong and didn't relent. There was no stopping her. She just kept moving. She made it to the saddle and was happy to pull up some dirt and relax while Cole and I scrambled the last 600' to the summit. Cole did awesome. There was probably close to 15 people on the summit. The temps are getting cooler and people know the snow is coming so they were out in full force. It was a most enjoyable trip for me. I love when I have Ash or the kids with me doing something that I love. I can't wait to get Ash out again soon. We'll get her in shape and wanting more!
