Ascent Trip ReportAbout a mile south of I-70 on Rt 51 a small piece of the old highway heads off to the left at the base of Rich Hill. Although it's prominence is listed at only 280 on Lists of John, it looks more imposing than most similar Pa. hills. I drove around it a bit looking for access. Mostly it's surrounded by private land. I finally parked by an access gate to a gas well off of Fayette City Blvd. on the hill's south flank. The ascent seemed surprisingly steep with the roughly 350 feet of elevation gain in less than a third of a mile leaving a short bushwhack through some trees on the nearly flat top. Nice views.
