Ascent of Mount Ouray on 2012-10-17| Date: | Wednesday, October 17, 2012 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | Mount Ouray | | Location: | USA-Colorado | | Elevation: | 13971 ft / 4258 m |
Ascent Trip ReportA "simple" ridge run from the Marshall Pass TH turned into an epic battle with wind/ The route is straightforward, but rougher than the topo map would indicate. I climbed ona day with constant 30+ mph winds. I'm sure some gusts were above 50 mph, and very possibly 70mph. I was actually unable to stand upright, let alone move forward, through some of these gusts. Thus, my descent was just as slow as my ascent. This peak would be a lot of fun in August.
