Ascent Trip Report

Followed Bob Sumner's trail description in "Hiking Nevada's County High Points", which included walking up a steep, rocky and gravelly, dirt road off of Stewart Street to Ophir Hill, and then following road on ridge eastward to Mt. Davidson. The last 0.25 mile, we followed an unmaintained trail up to the top of Mt. Davidson. The Ophir Hill and Mt. Davidson summits both affords nice views of Virginia City and Reno can be seen in the distance. A nice bonus for us was seeing some wild horses nearby. We retraced our route down Mt. Davidson and along the ridge, but then took a steep and unmaintained dirt road which followed the telephone pones back to the trailhead to save time.
