Ascent Trip Report

A mile north of the end of Frenchman Lake, I turned left onto a dirt road (Rd 24N92Y) that had a sign saying "Dixie Lookout 8 Miles". There's a gate here at the beginning of the road that was open. The road starts out in good condition, but gets worse the farther along I went. I put the Jeep in 4WD the last few tenths of a mile due to a steeper grade and loosing traction. The drive to the summit lookout tower was only 7 miles according to my odometer.

There's a turn-around near the top, with a trail that leads about 200 ft to the abandoned lookout and Dixie Mtn benchmark. The summit consists of an ancient lava flow.
