Ascent Trip ReportThe Plan was to hike in on Thrusday the 11th. Pine Bend Trail to Scaur Ridge Trail to Livermore Trail. Camp off of Livermore Trail on night 1. On Day 2 take the Mt. Tripyramid Trail up the North Slide, peak North Tripyramid, Middle Tripyramid, and South Tripyramid, descend the South Slide and return to the Livermore Trail back to camp. On Day 3 hike out the same way we came in.
Due to weather on the morning of day 2 (rain, frozen rain, snow) we decided the ascent of the North Slide was unsafe and went around the slide to peak North Tripyramid (from camp Livermore Tr to Scaur Ridge Tr to Mt Tripyramid Tr).
Parked our vehicle at the Pine Bend Brook Trail Trailhead on NH 112 (no parking lot or services) on Thursday Oct 11 around 1200. The trail was moderate with some steepmchallenging sections. Overall well beaten and marked. Multiple stream crossings that could be a challenge in high water. At trail intersection we took the Scaur Ridge Tr towards Livermkre Tr. Descent was moderate, trail was well beaten but not well maintained. Camped night 1 just off Livermore Trail near intersection of Mt Tripyramid Tr (fairly flat area with plenty of water from Avalanche Brook). This is where I start my ascent to N. Tripyramid (altitude 2395 ft).
The hike up the Scaur Ridge Tr was moderate, well beaten, with some more challenging steeper sections toward the trail intersection with the Pine Bend Brook Trail and the Mt Tripyramid Tr. Also at this trail intersection there is a great lookout to Mt Washinton which was snow covered and beautiful on our way out on Saturday Once on the Mt Tripyramid Tr, it was a fairly short climb to N. Tripyramid. Peak is wooded with no great views.
The descent was moderate in between the North peak and Middle peak.
Note: at 43 58' 14"N, 71 26' 23"W there is an emergency campsite. Flat and good size. Right along trail so emergency use only.
Next peak in sequence Middle Peak at 2012-10-12 B
