Ascent Trip ReportThe goal of today's hike was to get some views since most of my hikes of late have been in the southern catskills where views are few and far between. Started at the PA on Prediger Rd around 1230am. Hiked up the Red then Blue Trail toward Jimmy Dolan Notch. The first time up this trail I totally missed the Notch (view#1) probably because it was mid summer and totally over grown. Hiked up Twin with the possibility of doing Sugarloaf if time permitted. The views from Twin were really great my favorite being the second view point mostly for it's distance since I'm sure it's not as popular as the first closer view. I decided not to do Sugarloaf so I headed back the way I came. Arriving at the intersection I did some quick math and decided that if I wanted to hit the view on Indian Head I would end up hiking just a bit farther than I would by returning the way I came. So finishing by the loop (Devil's Path) was going to be my way back and I'm glad I did it. The trail down the back side Indian Head is really interesting with a few rock scrambles and many more view points than the map shows. I certainly made the right decision to buy some views with some extra mileage. Lot's of people out today but I was able to avoid most of them by passing them or sitting at a view point a little longer. Moving quickly I made it back to the car by 6pm. Great hike.
