Ascent of Spaniards Knob on 2008-04-06| Date: | Sunday, April 6, 2008 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | Spaniards Knob | | Location: | USA-Georgia | | Elevation: | 4000 ft / 1219 m |
Ascent Trip ReportThis was very similar to Horsetrough Mountain, except you head north on the AT from Chattahoochee Gap. The length of bushwhacking was much less and there weren't too many briers. It is a steep climb up to the summit. Once at the summit, I was surprised to find wind chimes hanging from the branches of a tree that was located pretty much at the high point. It was kind of cool to be thrashing your way through the trees, then hear wind chimes floating towards you. Thanks to whoever placed those there.
