Ascent Trip ReportStarted from the Grouse Lake/Twin Lakes trailhead at Wrights Lake. Hiked to Grouse Lake, then to Smith Lake where the trail ended. An enjoyable climb up talus boulders to the east of the lake led around to the south side of Peak 9640+. I traversed high on the north side of a thin ridge that connects Peak 9640+ and Mt. Price. Some easy class 3, but one could keep it all class 2 by staying lower below this ridge on either side of it. Easy slopes then led to the summit of Mt. Price.
As a bonus peak, I headed south across a big bowl to Mt. Agassiz about a kilometer away. One class 2-3 move with a little friction climbing on the summit rocks on the peak's SW side just before the summit. On the way back I decided to ascend the only other named peak in the vicinity of Grouse Lake, Blue Mountain. Just follow the SW ridge below Peak 9640+ to the mountain, then head cross-country NW to rejoin the Grouse Lake trail.
