Ascent Trip Report

This was part of a whirlwind 24 hour trip to summit Mississippi and Alabama's highpoints. The boys, Quntin and Carson, were with me while Aspen and Gwen attended a soccer tournament.

The previous day we summited Mississippi's highpoint and today was Alabama's. The highpoint is a simple drive up summit. Rather boring for the adventurous, but the state park the highpoint is located within is very nice. The highpoint is well marked and there is a nice tower you can climb to get better views above the trees. There are also many ugly radio towers surrounding the area that really detract fro the spot. I do wish we had more time b/c the state park looks very nice. People were camping throughout and the whole area had a serenity to it.

The trip did have a sad ending when Carson accidentally let the iPad fall out of the car and the screen broke / spider-webbed. He was devastated. Very sad ending to a great trip.
