Ascent Trip Report

From US 119 several miles south of Puxatawney I turned right on Johnston Road and then almost immediately veered right on Gilgal Road which goes to the 200 year old Gilgal church. At the church cemetery veer left to Pollock Road that winds around behind the high point. Just before you start to descend find a gated track on the right. I parked there and walked up. You will pass under high power lines near a massive steel tower. The area around the tower is one of the two 1740-1760 contours on the mound. The highest spot near here is on the bank west (across a road) of the tower. I believe this spot is few feet lower than the highest spot on the second contour, but with trees on top I can't be certain. Continue past the tower on the road. Where the road starts to go downhill veer uphill into the trees toward a trailer and a small antenna tower. Just before the edge of the woods I found a three foot stone and concrete marker. Nothing on it but looks a bit like CCC or WPA style construction. I found this to be a short pleasant hike with some views of surrounding countryside.
