Ascent Trip Report

SR49; left on SR4011; left on 244; right on Smoker Rd. About a mile up Smoker Rd. a road heads left. It's signed as a private driveway, but as you approach the house and the road veers right a jeep track goes straight ahead. I parked at a spot roughly 0.7 mi. from the hp coordinates. The track continued about 250 yards west until it intersected a road (not on any maps that I saw). I headed left hoping it would curve back toward my destination. It didn't, so I started bushwhacking. Here and there I crossed various abandoned tracks and a couple of roads that may still be in use, but not headed in the right direction for long. I'd say it was a medium difficulty bushwhack most of the way--some downed trees and patches of thorn bushes, but not nearly as dense as the other spots I hiked through later today, and I was able to circle around some of it. On the way back I found one of the abandoned tracks lead to my parking spot for about the last third of the bushwhack. Not particularly scenic--probably of interest mainly to someone working on the Pa. top 50 list, as I am.
