Ascent Trip Report

This was the last summit for my completion of the Belknaps list.

Hiked a loop starting from the beginning of Carriage Road by the gate. From there we followed the well marked red blaze trail to the summit of Piper Mt. where there were fine views for a low summit.
We than followed the green blazed Piper-Whiteface Link. The blazes blended into the environment well in some places, but the trail was easy to follow all the way to the trail junction to Belknap Mt. Rd. There were no obvious trail markers from this junction to the summit of Whiteface.
Follow the path a few hundred yards to a grassy opening with a fire pit. Keep to the right of the grassy patch until you get to a 4WD road and turn left onto it. This windy road will take you to the summit which is a very large grassy opening with fair views to the south. Another grassy area just before the summit affords great views looking to the Northwest.
We backtracked to the junction for Belknap Mt. Rd. and returned this way. The trail was very easy to follow. Once at the paved road we walked back to the parking area, probably just over a half mile or so.
