Ascent Trip Report

After leaving Haystack's summit we headed out towards Basin. It didn't take long to realize something was wrong. I started getting sick to my stomach and a bad headache. I really slowed down on the steep accent near Basin's summit so David and Anna went on ahead of me. The nausea was coming in waves so I would climb when I felt good and take a break when it worsened. Finally I reached the summit of Basin. I continued right past the summit and found a spot away from the group. Fortunately I was able to keep everything down and rejoined the group to take in the views. All in all we were still making good time so I used the time we had on Basin to get comfortable and close my eyes for about 15 mins. I will have to do this hike again because I wasn't able to fully enjoy it. I still had the hardest part of the hike ahead of me and even though the nausea was subsiding I was feeling weak. David sensed I was looking to get on with it so we headed out after only 20 mins on the summit.
