Ascent Trip Report3 full days in Baxter State Park (4 nights camping). Set up camp Sunday night, hiked Katahdin on Monday, took it easy on Tuesday, visiting Little Niagara and Big Niagara Falls, as well as Kidney Pond.
Hiked Doubletop on Wednesday in perfect weather. A nice hike, though in the trees until the summit. Fun day, very quiet, only saw one other group of hikers all day. Had the small open summit to ourselves for the hour we spent there, enjoying the views of Katahdin, the Brothers and other peaks, and many lakes off in the distance. Stopped at Ledge Falls for a great cold massage for our feet on the way back to the campground.
My first visit to Baxter State Park, but now that I've been, I know I must get back.
