Ascent Trip ReportA great day hike. We had dogs with us and did the Dry Gulch route as outlined in Summitpost. One of the dogs made it, and one of the "kids" too. The rock there is volcanic and marbly in places and the route is steep. The GPS was handy just to keep us on the most efficient route in the trees. We delimited all cliff bands on the left.
Getting there: Past the "road hazard" sign, you could still take a subaru style vehicle with just some adventurous spirit and make the end of the road. The end of the road is now .4 miles before the former "end of the road" which is .4 miles from the new trailhead which has fallen into disrepair. There are two nice campspots with tables and fire rings. (So there is .8 miles flat easy hiking each way additional to the original dry gulch route description in SP) Fun times.
This is my first list completion!!! :)
