Ascent of Charleston Peak on 1988-06-04| Others in Party: | Sierra Club Outing led by Tina Stough | | Date: | Saturday, June 4, 1988 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | Charleston Peak | | Location: | USA-Nevada | | Elevation: | 11916 ft / 3631 m |
Ascent Trip Reportcarried packs past spring after filling up with water (I only brought 2 liters but did well due to lots of snow along route up higher, which also impeded progress and made ice axe and gaiters useful); it would have been ideal to camp at spring, but we continued to the top of the ridge, dropped packs and traversed southern side of peak, then climbed 1000' up to top, where American Flag and weather station greeted us, then back to a windy, cold camp.
