Ascent Trip ReportCrêt de la Neige, 1720m, P1267m; le Reculet 1718m, P73m
Map: 1:25k: 3328OT
Stats: 920mH, 10km
Time: 4 Sep 06, ascent 1:10 to Reculet, 0:50 to Neige, descent 1h, total 3h
Start: from NW, rough layby E side of road, signboard. 9km NE of Chezery-Forens
Route: mapped waymarked path through beechwood and across pasture to le Reculet, along spine to Neige, returning same way.
Difficulties: occasional minor scrambling; descent steep in places, could be slippery under some conditions.
Trig point: 1717.6m: concentric ringed rivet in ?concrete; 3 metal fixings suggestive of former “witches hat” covering similar to Trelod, L’Etale etc
Notes: Nice ridge walk, fine views albeit bands of cloud partially obscuring bigger summits to E. Reculet much the more shapely summit. Summit has apparently “moved”, probably fairly recently. 1:250k map has Neige at 1717m Reculet at 1719m. Impression is that trig is generally regarded as summit. 1720m summit doesn’t appear higher from trig, has small neat cairn and a faint path, apparently little visited.
