Ascent Trip Report

Because the gate on the road to the first of the two spots is locked, this involves a small hike. From the microwave tower to the second spot, the former road has deteriorated more since the previous report with lots of thick weeds downed trees blocking the route. This one surprised me a bit. I think of Illinois as mostly flat cornfields with a regular grid of country roads for easy access. This one and neighboring Pulaski County reminded me a bit of parts of West Virginia: rolling hills covered with thorny brush, winding roads that don't necessarily go where you'd expect (or want) and some isolated hollers.
