Ascent Trip Report

On day one, Rick, Al and I backpacked from the end of the road at Cedar Grove up to East Lake. On day two, we dayhiked up Ouzel Creek to about 10,100' in elevation, then climbed onto and followed Brewer's east ridge to the peak's south ridge, passed through a notch, then climbed up the peak's south ridge to the summit. Most of this climb was on snow, requiring ice axes; however, the snow was just soft enough that crampons were not necessary, and therefore the crampons stayed in our packs. Also, the round trip took us about 16 hours and we returned to camp way after dark. On the day three, we backpacked out to the car.
