Ascent Trip Report

This was a California Mountaineering Club trip led by Jack Cronk. On day one, we backpacked to Finger Lake. On day two, we climbed the peak via its class 3 Northeast Face Route. From the lake, we used ice ax and crampons to ascend up to the bergschrund of the Middle Palisade Glacier. Four people in the group descended the bergschrund and climbed up a couloir with several class 4 moves while three of us, myself included, climbed up steep snow on the left side of the buttress, then traversed right to the main couloir, where we meet up with the rest of the group. Next, we followed a series of couloirs to the ridge just below the summit, where I and several other climbers took a belay to get to the summit. Afterwards, the entire group descended back to camp, following the group of three's ascent route to bypass the lower part of the couloir and the bergschrund. On day three, we backpacked out to the vehicles.
