Ascent Trip ReportParked at the Dunraven Pass Picnic Area (8,859') for this easy and popular 3.5 mile each way hike (although most foot traffic seemed to be coming from the north on the Chittenden Road route). The summit has a viewing tower and resident Park Ranger to answer any queries. Beautifully positioned for views over northern Yellowstone and particularly of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone but unfortunately haze from the long hot dry summer & forest fires limited visibility. Close views of a badger on the way up, otherwise most wildlife was avian, ground squirrels, picas, marmots and human.
