Ascent Trip Report

The second day of our trip started early. We woke up around 6:45am and slowly got things going. Breakfast was eaten fast and we prepped the day's gear.

We left the camping at 7:55am on the Old Bridle path. The air was already pretty damp and we knew the temperature would rise in the afternoon. Still, the first part was easy in the trees' shade. We bunny-hopped with another group when we started climbing along the more open ridge and had to stop once because my chest trap was starting to chafe my nipples (first time this ever happened to me). It took us 2 hours to reach Greenleaf hut and as we reached it we smelled the aroma of pancakes. We stopped to eat a snack for about 20 minutes and then resumed our ascent on Greenleaf trail towards Mt. Lafayette at 10:15am.

We soon caught back on the earlier group and were in turn caught by a solo guy going pretty fast. We held on to him until just past Mt. Lincoln. The last leg going up was straightforward and the trail itself wasn't impressive to me. We got to the summit at 11:10am. The view from the top though was a different case. The sky was clear but the humid air made for a short view distance. We could see most of the Pemigewasset wilderness and its encircling range and it was a beautiful panorama. We took a few pictures and resumed down towards Mt. Truman along Franconia Ridge trail.
